TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to the Manager, Willis's Rooms
Date20 December 1886
DescriptionIn answer to the Manager's letter of 18 December [1886], Rix as Assistant Secretary states that the number of guests expected has never hitherto been regarded by the Rooms as an order. In the Royal Society's dealings with Messrs Willis's house it has always been understood that payments were in all cases to be made direct to the rooms and that the Society was responsible only for the guests invited by the Council and whose names were furnished beforehand to the door-keeper. Rix therefore requests they send an amended account for £18-7-6, immediately on receipt of which he will send a cheque in payment.
