Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to John Evans |
Date | 28 January 1887 |
Description | Rix asks the Treasurer of the Royal Society, Evans, to sign cheques for: J J Johnson for taxes, E Whymper regarding Darwin, and T H Varley concerning the Eclipse. The latter is the adjustement of a muddle which he will explain upon his return. The boiler is at work and Rix is trying to sell the old one though he does not expect they shall get more than a clear pound for it. If there is difficulty in selling it he wonders if he might let Haden have it for nothing. All is well except that there is a dearth of papers. Professor William Kitchen Parker however read one yesterday 'nine inches thick'. |
