TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Williams & Norgate
Date10 February 1887
DescriptionOn approbation some months ago the Messrs sent the Royal Society Wagner's 'Die Wirbellosen des Weissen Meeres' [1885], band one. This was put aside with the intention of being returned but was forgotten and inadvertently the item was passed in the Messrs account and £5 charged. They wonder if the Messrs will take it back and ask what they will give for it. The book has not been stamped and is in the same condition as when it arrived. Rix takes the opportunity to ask that the Society is not sent books on approbation as they have no power to purchase without the Library Committee which meets about twice or three times a year and they always avail the Messrs when that Committee is about to meet.
