TitleCopy letter from John Evans, to Sir William George Armstrong
Date10 February 1887
DescriptionEvans gratefully acknowledges Armstrong's munificent kindness of paying £7800 to the credit of the Scientific Relief Fund. Evans only regrets that he was unable to raise a larger sum in response to Armstrong's original princely offer. Evans will now advise the Council as to the best method of investing this money and will be glad of any suggestions from Armstrong. They have to invest in trustees funds and Evans thinks Preference or Debenture stock of some of the best railways should be as good an investement as any.
