TitleCopy letter from John Evans, to W Lindley
Date1 March 1887
DescriptionIn Lindley's letter of 28 February 1886 he was kind enough to offer to double if necessary his liberal subscription of £100 to the Scientific Relief Fund. In reporting the amount subscribed and promised Evans include the large amount of £200 in all as Lindley's subscription and hopes he will be forgiven for trespassing on his liberality. Sir William Armstrong has generously increased his contribution so as to make it £7,800, so that when all the subscriptions have been received the total amount of the investments will be of the value of £20,000.
