DescriptionIn answer to Lindsay's letter of 4 November [1885] which was brought before the President and Council, Foster draws his Lordship's attention to the subjoined extract from the statues of the Royal Society, chapter 13, page eight [not attached], from which it is seen that the Council is precluded from granting arrears of the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' published previous to the last five years. The earlier volumes can be purchased at one-third of their published price by application to the Assistant Secretary.
