TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Michael Foster
Date28 September 1887
DescriptionHerewith Rix encloses a letter from Mr Ascroft the artist whose sketches the Society is using for the Krakatoa frontispiece. Ascroft is bitterly disappointed with the proofs sent by the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company and Rix himself thinks there is a great gulf between the originals and reproductions. Ascroft is so angry he will not see a man from the Cambridge firm and thinks the drawings ought to be put into the hands of another firm. Rix thinks Foster ought to fight the matter out with one or other parties. Rix notes Ascroft is ill with having eaten bad mushrooms and this may be something to do with his irritability.
