TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster
Date30 September-1 October 1887
DescriptionDr John Murray of the 'Challenger' has placed his resignation in the hands of the Royal Society of Engineers because he is going to put in an application to the Government Grant. [Morning next day] Rix sends the B applications totalling ten in number. They can go on printing as soon as Foster returns them. Rix has written to Glasgow for an estimate of Mackay. The manuscript is still with Mr Marshall. Rix supposes Foster will not have the Government Grant summonses sent out till after the first Council meeting. He wonders if he might place a paragraph in 'Nature' about depths reached by the Delta borings.
