TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to W J Woods, Elmhurst, Holly Park, Crouch Hill, N.
Date1 November 1887
DescriptionIn reply to Woods' letter of 28 October [1887], any engagement with Mr Ray Woods was made by Dr [David] Gill and not by the Royal Society. As Foster stated in his letter of the 27th October, the Society have allowed Gill £150 from the Donation Fund in consequence of Gill's representation that he had gone beyond the amount received from the Government Grant, and Ray Woods' letter of 27 July was probably written in ignorance of this fact. The Society cannot interfere in any arrangements made between Gill and Woods.
