TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to J P Fearfield, The Ferns, Stapleford, near Nottingham
Date22 November 1887
DescriptionOn 24 November [1886] Fearfield handed the Royal Society a cheque for £25 the moiety of £50 generously promised to the Scientific Relief Fund which is administered by a Committee of the Society. Fearfield has probably seen from the papers that on the strength of the promises made, Sir William Armstrong fufilled his engagement and handed over for investment £7800. The Treasurer, John Evans, trusts Fearfield will excuse Rix writing to remind him that a year has now passed since the first half of Fearfield's promised contribution was paid, as he is anxious to close the Donation List and complete the investment of the capital sum.
