TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to The Secretaries, Königliche Gesellschaft der Wissenschaften zu Göttingen
Date20 August 1894
DescriptionSince the President and Council appointed Professor [John Henry] Poynting FRS as the delegate of the Royal Society to the conference at Innsbruck, Professor C V Boys FRS, Assistant Professor of Physics in the Royal College of Science, London, has expressed his willingness to be present at the conference.

Boys is specially interested in the question of gravity, concerning which he is now conducting research and the President and Council, being aware of his willingness to attend the Conference, would undoubtedly have appointed Boys as a delegate to represent the Society. The President and Council however will not sit again until October. Under the circumstances Foster has ventured to recommend Boys to attend the conference feeling confident his presence will be welcome.
