TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster
Date28 January 1895
DescriptionDr Murray was at the Society on Saturday and wished Rix to remind Foster that 100 sets of Challenger volumes were reserved by the Stationary Office. Murray learnt that the Stationary Office was about to distribute these to a number of members of Parliament to present to their libraries and the like of their constituencies but Murray entered a protest against this and when the last volume is issued Murray wishes that the question of distribution be considered by the Committee.

There was an item on the last Council's Agenda about the Misses Berkeley, and Rix believes the President [Lord Kelvin, William Thomson] mentioned the case, but Rix has heard nothing more about the matter and has nothing to lay before the Committee. When a President mentions a case to Council the next step is to write a letter to the Committee enclosing the necessary documents. Rix wonders if the President understands this. Dr [Philip Henry] Pye-Smith saw Mr Chapman on Saturday and he says there is no disease of nervous exhaustion.
