Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to Dr J Murray |
Date | 7 February 1895 |
Description | Foster thinks there ought to be a meeting of the 'Challenger' Committee if for nothing else than to instruct the Treasurer [John Evans] to pay over the money due to Murray and to wind up the whole business. If the Treasury consult the Royal Society about the disposition of the 'Challenger' volumes, the President [Lord Kelvin, William Thomson] will probably consult the 'Challenger' Committee and it might be as well for the Committee to know Foster's views. Had Foster known Murray was to be in town they might have arranged a meeting of the Committee during Murray's stay. If Murray will be visiting again soon they might arrange a time to suit him, but if not it may be as well not to delay any longer. |
