DescriptionVillars' circular of 22nd December, with reference to a memorial about to be erected to [Antoine Laurent] Lavosier, had been laid before the President and Council of the Royal Society at their recent meeting.

With respect to Villars' request that a Committee may be appointed to receive subscriptions the President and Council do not find themselves able to further the matter in that manner, but are pleased to contribute 250 francs to the proposed memorial and a cheque for the equivalent of that sum is enclosed herewith.
