| Description | The photographs which accompany Professor Boyce's paper are in two series. They represent magnified views of sectional surfaces of the brain of the cat prepared by Marchi's method. The position of the plain of section is not given in any instance.
The author has examined each of the photographs and does not find that the photographs strengthen the evidence afforded by the description of the observations, nor does he attribute any great value to them as illustrations.
If the author wishes to make his descriptions plain, it must be by accurate drawings in outline showing the relation between the groups of fibres which undergo degeneration in his experiments, and the normal structure of the part. These could be reproduced at relatively inconsiderable expense and introduced into the text. |
