TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to George William Erskine Russell, 18 Wilton Street, S.W.
Date12 March 1894
DescriptionRix fears the Society cannot give Russell much help in the matter of his letter. Rix notes that Russell speaks of 'Dr Hooker's invitation'. Dr Hooker became Sir Joseph in 1877. The Society has a manuscript list of those dining on 30 November 1876 but Matthew Arnold's name does not appear in it, so that in all probability the date of the letter is 1874 or 1875.

The Anniversary Dinner is always to be held on St Andrew's Day, and the invitations are issued about a month in advance.
