DescriptionRix is instructed by the Committee entrusted with considering applications for grants of the Society's publications, to express their regret that they are not able to further increase their gratis list as far as the 'Proceedings' and 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' are concerned.

Rix is however instructed by the Committee to send a copy of Dr Lendenfeld's valuable monograph on the Horny Sponges, which will be dispatched in a week or two.
