TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Mr Knowles, 15 Rush Hill Road, Lavender Hill, S.W.
Date27 September 1895
DescriptionRix feels somewhat ashamed to have kept Knowles' manuscript so long and of course whenever Knowles calls it in, it shall be sent. The delay is due to the pains the Society are taking to identify it and to the unfortunate fact that the chief Newton expert at Cambridge with whom Rix corresponded was about to go to Scotland on vacation and did not have time to come to any definite conclusion.

From Rix's description this expert thinks it may be a manuscript of the treatise 'De motu corporum' which is partly like the first book of the 'Principia', but if Knowles will have a little patience Rix has no doubt that in a week or two Rix shall be able to show it to some of their experts and tell Knowles something about it or perhaps make an offer.
