TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Charles Scott Sherrington, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date9 January 1896
Description''Dear Dr Sherrington,
In reply to a request from me (made in the usual course) for an "Abstract" of Mr Durham's paper, he answers that he is advised that the paper is sufficiently brief and declines to send an "Abstract". Please say whether this means that the paper is sent in for the "Proceedings [of the Royal Society]"; also, please note that, even if sent in for the "Proceedings", an "Abstract" is nevertheless required under the rule by which we are forbidden to set up in type any paper of greater length than five pages before it has been referred.
Yours truly,
H Rix
Asst. Sec. R.S. [Assistant Secretary, Royal Society]'.
