TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society
Date17 January 1896
DescriptionRix enquires as to what the Officers decided about procedure with regard to Dr Klein's paper, namely whether it is to be withdrawn or re-entered under a different date. He assumes the paper listed for reading next time is this withdrawn paper, but if he is incorrect Foster should telegraph as they are to advertise the next day. The type has been distributed, and he asks if he is to reset it.

Rix also sends an inclosure from Mr Langley, and notes that the paper was not dealt with the previous day, despite it appearing ready. One referee does not recommend a grant for its publication and believes they should have nothing to do with it, while the other thinks it should not be printed in 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society', Rix asks that Foster responds to Langley, or sends instructions so that he may do so.

Another inclosure from the Permanent Eclipse Committee requires early attention. Rix also communicates that Professor [Oliver Joseph] Lodge has withdrawn his resignation and remains on the Government Grant Board.
