TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr William Richard Gowers, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date21 January 1896
DescriptionRix responds to Gowers' note of the previous day to state that he will give instructions to discontinue sending him 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' with the exception of papers he may occasionally select. They will continue to post 'Proceedings of the Royal Society'; they list papers recently published in 'Philosophical Transactions' on the wrapper.

In fact, Rix states that successive wrappers of 'Proceedings' form a complete list of all papers published in 'Philosophical Transactions'.
