TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to J G Smither, Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, Allison Grove, Dulwich, S.E.
Date18 February 1896
DescriptionRix, responds to Smither's letter of 17 February to inform him that a copy of his work 'Architectural Remains, Anuradhapura, Ceylon' was received from the Crown Agents for the Colonies on 17 July, and the receipt acknowledged the same day. It has been placed in the Royal Society Library, but they cannot break their practice of expressing no opinion on such a work's value, regardless of its importance. However, Rix asks that he not interpret this as a lack of appreciation or an undervaluing by the Fellows and Officers who will consult it.
