TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society
Date23 March 1896
DescriptionRix states that Professor Lapworth's manuscript arrived that morning, and he is sure he can get the Standing Order distributed the next day, and if he is able to answer the question about the Minutes, they can also be sent.

The question concerning Minutes is regarding the accidental omission in Regulation 20, which would have been discovered in reading the proof. Rix states he should not alter a matter of such importance on his own responsibility, and for the same reason must ask whether Appendix I, section 2 and Appendix 2, section 2 on slips 3 and 4 inclosed are correct. If Foster does mean the Assistant Secretary to issue the summonses, Rix would be happy to do so, but he suspects that 'Clerk to the Committee' should be substituted. As an aside, he remarks that it would have been better to use 'Secretary' rather than 'Clerk' to make the office analagous to similiar committees, including the Coral Reef Committe, Eclipse Committee, and International Catalogue Committee.
