TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to William Hay Caldwell
Date11 May 1896
DescriptionRix notes that on 13 April 1883 Caldwell received a grant of 200 pounds from the Government Grant Committee on the condition that all instruments, specimens and other items of permanent value arising from the grant or those supplied by the committee, be regarded as the property of the Government. A second grant of 200 pounds was awarded in December 1884 on the same conditions.

Rix is directed to ask that Caldwell outline for the General Committee administering the grant, what material of permanent value obtained by means of the grants exists and in whose possession it is; what use has been made of the material and any further use proposed for it; when Caldwell will be able to hand the material to the Government Grant Committee.
