Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor F G Baily, Heriot-Watt College, Edinburgh |
Date | 18 May 1896 |
Description | Harrison regrets the delay in answering Baily's letter of 4 May, which was caused by uncertainty about the method of dealing with papers under the new Standing Orders due to Harrison's own unfamiliarity with the workings of the Society in his new role as Assistant Secretary.
He answers that, as Baily's paper is under consideration by the relevant committee, it cannot be spared until after this week for the purpose which he wishes it to be returned. Harrison will try to obtain it for him as soon as possible providing he gains the authority of the committee to do so.
Harrison has also been directed by the Secretaries to state that they have no objectrion to Professor James Alfred Ewing using Baily's curves, provided he does not say too much about his results in a manner which would anticipate Baily's paper. |
