TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr W Wilfrid Webb, Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, Hants
Date22 May 1896
DescriptionHarrison responds to Webb's letter of 12 May, unanswered until now due to the pressures of work, to inform him that Edward Smith was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society on 7 June 1860, and was admitted on 14 June 1860. He encloses a copy of Smith's certificate, which gives the grounds for his election. To locate a list of his papers, Harrison directs Webb to the Society's 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers'.

He states that as Smith held no office at the Society, and there was no obituary notice in 'Proceedings of the Royal Society', they are unable to provide any information on his birth, parentage and marriage.
