TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to William Whitehead Watts, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date29 June 1896
Description[Poor copy, type faded in first paragraph] Watts' note addressed to Mr Rix has come into Harrison's hands. Discusses various payments but does not feel sure that Watts is justified in considering that an amount was not paid in anticipation out of the sum of £800 subsequently placed in the hands of the Council by the Government Grant Committee for the purpose of the Coral Reef Committee.

Harrison will seek the Treasurer's view tomorrow but cannot see that, even if the first £250, which certainly was granted out of the Government Grant money, was in anticipation of, and not in addition to, the subsequent grant of £800, that any occasion arises for Watts to send a cheque, unless he has received the full £800 from Rix. In the meantime Harrison does not think it would be wise for Watts to make an announcement to his Committee until he has heard from Harrison.
