TitleCopy letter from Theodore E James, to Michael Foster
Date24 August 1896
DescriptionJames sends the Admiralty letter for signature. Mr Lockyer's letter and accompanying enclosures want careful reading for typewritten errors so James retains both and sends on the letter only.

Encloses the answer from the Netherlands Embassy, together with a revised list of Huygens articles. The Council Minutes contain interesting entries about them. Martin Folkes drew up an inventory in 1748 which might be useful for this catalogue. Some years ago James helped a Mr Crouch hunt particulars of the Huygens memorials, and he subsequently wrote an interesting article in the 'Essex Naturalist'. James has asked Crouch to send another separate copy of this as it contains much that had not appeared before and may be of use to the compilers of the catalogue of exhibits.
