TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Michael Foster, Secretary, Royal Society
Date28 September 1896
DescriptionEncloses for signature a letter to the Treasurer [John Evans] about the 'Challenger' reports and a copy of the list of recommendations [not attached]. Asks Foster to send on the letter direct to the Treasury as it has been press copied at the Society.

Regarding the year book Harrison supposes Foster is familiar with the references to the Royal Society in Evelyn's 'Dairy'. Harrison was struck by several of them yesterday, especially Evelyn's account of the formal presentation of the mace by the King and his quotation of the title of the Society as being "for the Improvement of Natural Knowledge by Experiment". This is the title used in the Royal Warrant for making the mace, as quoted in 'Weld'.
