TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Silvanus Phillips Thompson, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date5 October 1896
DescriptionEncloses a receipt for Thompson's subscription [not attached].

Thompon's card addressed to Mr White has been handed to Harrison. The Society does not appear to have a copy of [Erasmus] Bartholin's tract in the library but there in an account of sundry experiments by Bartholin 'Upon a Chrystal-like body, sent to him out of Island [sic, meaning Iceland]', in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' number 67, 1670-1671.

The only papers by Victor Schumann connected with ultra-violet wave lengths which Harrison has been able to trace are in the Vienna 'Anzeiger'. These are in number 23, 1892, and numbers 11, 17 and 20, 1893. However unless these incidentally deal with the determination of the wave length, they seem from their titles to all be devoted to the photography of the rays of shortest wave-length and to new sensitive plates for the ultra-violet waves.
