| Description | At the instigation of Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies, the Royal Society has appointed a Committee to assist Surgeon-Major [David] Bruce in his investigations on the Tsetse Fly disease.
Bruce has shown the important part played by a haematozoon in this disease and the Committee have under observation domestic animas affected with the haematozoon in question.
Domestic animals can be infected by the injection of blood from animals suffering from the haematozoon and it is in the opinion of the Committee, of great importance to ascertain the effect of injecting diseased blood into animals of different kinds. Harrison asks if the Council of the Zoological Society will allow observations in this direction to be made on various animals kept in the Society's gardens, use being made of course of animals of no great value. |
