| Description | Rucker conveys the thanks of the Royal Society for Thorpe and Mr Rodger's paper 'On the relations between viscosity (internal friction) of liquids, and their chemical nature (Part II)', and informs him that the Committee of Papers have directed that it be published, with some modifications, in 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'.
The proposal is that pages 1-22 and 31-51 of the paper are published in full, but that the comparison between the formulae and experiment results is given in excessive detail and so should be reduced. Rucker provides the edited list of points to include from this section as suggested by the Committee, but notes that they do not insist on the changes unless he agrees with them. With regard to the rest of the paper, the Committee suggest printing pages 55-60 in full along with the related curves, and publishing the chemical preparation details on pages 23-30 as an appendix.
A postscript motes that once Rucker hears from Thorpe that he consents to the changes, the paper will be sent to him to make the necessary modifications. |
