TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to Professor Edwin Ray Lankester
Date5 March 1897
DescriptionThe President and Council wish to have the advice of Lankester's Committee on the enclosed application of Dr Sclater and Mr Bather [not attached].

As Lankester is aware, the Council have decided that only a small portion of the publication grant should be spent on 'other than original inquiries'.

Bather made an application last year and was told that the position allowed for 'other than original inquiries' had already been alloted. Sclater and Bather now ask for a grant from the allowance for next year. The President and Council wish to know whether the proposed work is of such a kind as to justify them spending on it the whole or part of that moiety of the whole grant. That moiety would not, Foster imagines, exceed £100.
