Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to the members of the 'Challenger' Committee, excepting Sir John Evans |
Date | 11 May 1897 |
Description | Since the date at which the Royal Society sent in a list of institutions and persons to whom they recommended broken sets of the 'Challenger' Report should be presented, several other applications have come in. It is proposed soon to consider these; meanwhile an application for several other volumes has come in from the Belgian Antarctic Expedition.
This seems urgent; as if the members of the Committee are agreed that the application should be recommended to the Treasury, it might be disposed of at once. Asks Foster to state on the accompanying postcard [not attached], if he agrees that the Society should recommend a grant of volumes to the Belgian Antarctic Expedition, or whether he thinks the Committee should meet to consider the application. |
