TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to Illmo Signor Dr Ugo Pizzoli, Segretario, Comitato pel Monumento a Marcello Malpighi, in Crevalcore, Bologna, Italy
Date23 December 1896
DescriptionFoster sends by registered Book Post his note on 'Relations between Malpighi and the Royal Society'.

He initially thought of just giving a couple of letters passing between the two, but then decided it would be best to have copies made of all the relevant letters, except those printed in the "Opera Omnia", to form an appendix which he could refer to in his note. The letters are in chronological order. He further notes that he has retained the archaic spelling, grammar and use of capitals of the original Minutes of Council and entries in the Journal Book, but he can modernise these if they cause confusion to Pizzoli's translator.

Foster would be willing to revise the proofs as far as his poor Italian will allow. He states that it has been a pleasure to make a small contribution to the history of 'the great man'.
