TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir George Gabriel Stokes, Lord Kelvin [William Thomson], Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt], Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker, and Sir Edward Frankland, Fellows of the Royal Society
Date7 July 1897
DescriptionAs there appears to have been some misunderstanding with regard to the presentation of the address from the Royal Society to Her Majesty the Queen, the President has desired Harrison to say that it is possible that a small deputation from the Society may be received by Her Majesty at Windsor next Saturday. In that event Lord Lister trusts the recipients of this letter will be able to form part of the deputation. Harrison understands Court Dress would be worn. Asks if the recipient would be prepared to act in this way, and to meet the other members of the deputation at the Society.

Postscript notes that an intimation has been received that the Queen has consented to receive the address at Windsor some time next week and further notice will be sent.
