TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor George Carey Foster, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date22 July 1897
DescriptionFoster will remember Harrison writing to him a short time back regarding lending for use abroad a tract of 1581 by Borough on the 'Variation of the Compass'. Foster thought it ought not to be lent unless it could not be obtained otherwise. Since then Harrison has learned the loan of the tract is desired by Dr Hellmann of Berlin, for a reproduction of his series of 'Neudruck' and that there is no copy of the work in Germany. Harrison has discussed the matter with the Secretaries and they think that with Foster's concurrence the Society might lend the volume, sending it by registered post. Asks if Foster approves.
