DescriptionArrangements are being made under the direction of the Joint Permanent Eclipse Committee of the Royal Society and Royal Astronomical Society, for taking observations in India of the Solar Eclipse next January.

The Committee are desirous of sending Captain E H Hills, with one of the observing parties, and the Royal Society hopes that the the Secretary of State for War will grant Hills the necessary leave and detail him for this special service from the first week in December 1897, to the end of February, 1898.
