TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to the Secretary, the Australian Museum, Sydney, New South Wales
Date30 July 1897
DescriptionSince writing on the 9th, Foster has had an interview with Professor Anderson Stuart. In consequence of this, Foster thinks it will be desirable to add a few words in further explanation of what the President and Council wished to be conveyed to the authorities of the Australian Museum.

The sentence towards the end of Foster's letter dated 11th March, referring to Messieurs [Eobert] Etheridge and [Charles] Hedley, was written on the assumption that those gentlemen were acquainted with the instructions drawn up by the Committee of the Royal Society. The President and Council now learn from the Secretary's letter that Etheridge and Hedley state they were unacquainted with those instructions. Foster's late letter was to say that the President and Council, without attempting to reconcile the contradictions which have unfortunately arisen, at once withdraw the comments made in Foster's previous letter.
