DescriptionJames is instructed to ask the Messrs with reference to the accompanying cheque, returned upon Louis Carrington, who has been for many years in receipt of an annuity form the Royal Society of £7.10, whether the signature was secured at the Messrs bank.

Carrington had informed the Society that he had accidentally cut the cheque whilst opening his letter, but was paying it in to his bankers in the condition it now is.
