| Description | A paper on the magneto-optic phenomena of iron, nickel and cobalt by a young Cambridge man named Leathem today came before the Sectional Committee of Physics and Chemistry. Explains why [Richard Tetley] Glazebrook and [Joseph] Larmor could not be regarded as quite independent referees.
Fitzgerald already has a heavy paper in hand and the Committee were unwilling to trouble him further but it was thought that as Fitzgerald has Larmor's work so fully before him, he would be able to deal with the shorter paper better and in less time than anybody else. Hopes Fitzgerald will consent and has ordered Leathem's paper to be sent to him. |
