| Description | A letter has arrived at the Society from Mr Moos, Director of the Government Observatory, Bombay, referring to the functions of the Observatories Committee, constituted in 1885 at the instance of the Secretary of State for India.
Moos says that the work carried out at the Bombay Observatory, among others, is submitted in an annual report to the Observatories Committee for criticism, but since 1892 no report has been made on the work.
Moos requests the President of the Royal Society to elicit an expression of opinion from the Committee upon his work. Harrison discusses his findings of the history of said Committee. The Secretaries will be much obliged if Christie can let the Society know anything as to the present position of the Committee and to the functions which the Royal Society may be called upon to exercise with regard to it. Asks if he can have a note by Thursday when there is to be a meeting of the Officers. |
