Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to Tannant Edgeworth David, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 26 June 1897 |
Description | Foster communicated to the president and Council of the Royal Society the substance of David's letter to Professor Liversidge and is directed to reply as follows.
There remains from the funds places at the disposal of the late Coral Reef Expedition an unexpended balance amounting to about £150. This the President and Council have great pleasure in contributing to the expenses of David's expedition. Should further aid be wanted they will be prepared to make an additional grant of say £100.
The Society gladly accept the [boring] core offered in David's letter.
With regards to publication, the Society desire to leave David free to publish the results of his own expedition in whatever manner seems best to him. Should David wish for the Society to publish it, they will be happy to receive it as a communication and take the usual action respecting it, but they wish David to understand that they do not make any claim whatever as to publication.
Trusts that David will be successful in his gallant endeavour. |
