TitleCopy letter from Edwin Ray Lankester (Chairman of the Zoology Committee) and W T Thiselton-Dyer, to Professor Michael Foster
Date14 June 1898
DescriptionFoster's letter with an application from Mr George Murray for a grant of £300 from the Council towards the expenses of an expedition for the exploration of the intermediate depths of the ocean was considered by a joint meeting of the Botany and Zoology Committee. The Council wishes to know whether the enquiry is so important to justify them spending a large amount of money which has been put at their disposal by the Government Grant Committee. They are not prepared to support the application on the terms stated in Foster's letter.
