DescriptionDirected by the President and Council of the Royal Society to express their thanks to the Secretary of State for the Colonies for the assistance given to the recent Solar Eclipse Expedition in the transhipment of their baggage and the passing it through the Customs at Colombo. Hopes that thanks may be conveyed to the Governor of Ceylon and to L. Lee, Collector of Customs for Ceylon, for the facilities granted to Sir J Norman Lockyer and his party at Colombo.
