TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to the Honorary Secretary, Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society, Falmouth
Date19 July 1898
DescriptionOn 9th June Harrison forwarded, for the information of the Secretary's Committee, copies of the report of Mr Watson on the dip-observations made at the Falmouth Observatory. The Observatories Committee of Royal Society have considered that report and directed Harrison to insert in the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' a note drawing attention to the fact that the observations of dip in certain years were erroneous.

Asks if the Committee has any observations on the subject. If the publication of the Falmouth results in the 'Proceedings' is to be continued, it is important that the Secretary's Committee should make some arrangement by which the Magnetic Observatory should be regularly inspected, if this is not already done by the Kew officials, and that the results of the observations should be submitted to a competent critic.
