DescriptionThe Council has today appointed Captain [William de Wiveleslie] Abney and Professor [Hugh Longbourne] Callendar as members of the Physics and Chemistry Committee to fill the vacancies caused by the death of Dr Hopkins on the resignation of Professor [John Henry] Poynting.

These gentlemen will hold office till 31 December 1899.
