TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir Archibald Geikie, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date13 December 1898
DescriptionIs directed to forward the enclosed application from Mr G H Fowler [not enclosed], which was laid before Council at its last meeting, and by that body referred to the Floating Observatory Committee for consideration and report.

As the work of the suggested Floating Observatories, if carried into effect, would probably supplant such an expedition as that proposed by Fowler, Geikie's Committee will probably wish to consider the application in relation to the whole subject and it must therefore rest with Geikie, when he receives the promised reports from Professor [William Abbott] Herdman and Mr Murray, to fix a date for taking the Council's reference into consideration. Geikie will observe by Fowler's private note that he rather presses for some reply.
