Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to Sir Clements Robert Markham, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 18 July 1899 |
Description | Since writing the Biological Sub-Committee has met and their preliminary report raises such important questions that Foster feels the Joint Committee [Antarctic Expedition], if called, would not be able to deal with them in Markham's absence. Would therefore like to withdraw any proposal to summon the Joint Committee, which next meets in October.
Meanwhile it seems much would be gained if the report of the Biological Sub-Committee was at once circulated among the members of the Joint Committee. The reports of the other sub-committees might also be circulated. Will have the Biological report sent to Markham as soon as possible. |
