TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to the Secretary to Her Majesty's Treasury, Whitehall, S.W.
Date4 August 1899
DescriptionIn continuation of his letter of the 28th July 1898, Foster encloses a further list of recommendations which the Royal Society desire to make for the presentation of surplus volumes of the 'Challenger' report. Provides details of 14 institutions with information of which volumes are recommended.

The importance and activity of the University of Dorpat and the very special claims of the Norwegian North Sea Expedition constitute, in the opinion of the 'Challenger' Committee, a sufficient reason for their taking the exceptional course of recommending that a complete set should be given in each case.
